Gabriela and Alfredo, created Opuntia a little over three years ago. It was a dream come true, named after an endemic cactus from Ecuador’s Galapagos Islands, the “opuntia echios”. In this project they joined their talents in fashion, graphic and industrial design, as well as their experience in product development to put forward a brand that combines crafts, fashion and design. Their inspiration are the colors, shapes and textures of our country, along with it’s worldview.
Along a modest team of craftsmen and providers, working in small workshops, they created fashion pieces, accessories and glass fusing. They combined first-quality materials such as leather, jute, ivory palm, wool, indigenous cloths and a variety of printed fabric from our Galápagos, Andean and Amazonian lines. They offer handmade collections with special attention to finishes, fusing the ethnic with urban and modern folk.
Their products exhibit at the most prominent international airports of Ecuador, including Galapagos Islands, receiving great reception from such a demanding audience. They have the ability and flexibility to develop high quality products, which can be tailor-made to fit your needs and expectations.
